📜Xianxia and Wuxia

Introducing Chinese Martial Arts Fantasy Genres.

The world of SageVerse™ is inspired by the genres of XianXia and Wuxia in Chinese literature. The two genres have certain similarities; however, there are distinctions that make them entirely unique.

Wuxia

Wuxia is a genre that depicts Ancient China and the warriors of that time. They are fictional tales that sometimes involve historical generals who fought in the "Three Kingdoms" era. These include martial artists with superhuman capabilities. There usually aren't "Immortal Cultivators," as everyone, no matter how strong they are, has a mortal lifespan and leads mortal lives, even if they are martial artists.

Xianxia

The Xianxia genre of Chinese literature is much like the Wuxia genre; however, in the Xianxia genre there is the inclusion of Taoist Cultivators who possess supernatural powers and have lengthened lifespans that increase as they raise their "cultivation realm." Additionally, they live in mountains and generally do not have contact with mortals. These cultivators can fly, leave the planet, and even depart from this plane of existence and ascend. Cultivators usually have to undergo something called "Heavenly Tribulation" as they grow in power, and the amount of resources a cultivator needs to cultivate is astronomical, so they usually have their own currency and economy that grows increasingly refined as higher cultivation levels are reached. They have alternate worlds and different realities, and can even include sci-fi and other genres allowing for unlimited creativity.

Sageverse™ is a Xianxia genre game.
