🌉East Meets West: How To Build the Bridge
America Loves Kung-Fu and Fantasy, but...
The Main Obstacles
One of the biggest roadblocks for Xianxia-based games in the West is the lack of cultural reference and relevance. A lot of the humor and cultural references included in Xianxia aren't as obvious to the majority of the Western gaming audience. That, coupled with the fact that most, if not all, Xianxia MMORPGs that are released in the West are direct ports of their Eastern counterparts, means that the translation is usually off kilter, making it difficult for players to resonate emotionally with the story and characters. However, this obstacle is by no means insurmountable.
